A miniature model of a church, complete with fine, hand-painted replicas of paintings, is on display in Naxxar.

Created by Joseph Gerada, the church model is 10 metres long and six metres wide.

Built in Corinthian style, the church features hand-painted copies of Giuseppe Calì paintings. The model is made of unpainted wood allowing viewers to see more easily how the church was made.

Gerada has paid incredible attention to detail including gold embroidery, fine silver work, small wooden hand carving, wrought iron works, inlaid work, ganutell and gilding.

Gerada started working on the church 12 years ago and this is the eighth consecutive year he is exhibiting his work.

The exhibition is on at 29, Korfu Street, Sgħajtar, Naxxar. It is open from March 28 to April 6 during the week from 6.30 to 10 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and 6 to 11 p.m.
