BirguFest, an extravaganza of music, candlelight, food, and fun will be held on October 19 and 20. 

The festival was launched seven years ago and attracts thousands of people every year.

Its purpose is to highlight the beauty and history of Citta Vittoriosa through a number of activities for people of all ages.

Vittoriosa local council said this year's edition will feature concerts by renowned local bands on Friday while on Saturday, visitors of all ages can relax to a concert of mixed music including jazz.

As in previous years, there will be historic re-enactments in the narrow streets and on the bastions of the ancient city and discounted museum entrance fees.

The highlight of the event, the magical Birgu By Candlelight will be held on Saturday October 20, when all the streets and houses will be lit only by thousands of candles, adding a  romantic touch to the historical ambience.

The festival will he held in collaboration with  the Parliamentary Secretariat for Local Councils, the Malta Tourism Authority and various other sponsors.
