The Christmas Market at San Anton School is in full swing, proving to be a festive fun day out for families.
Hundreds of visitors are visiting the various stalls which have on offer traditional decorations, gift-wrapping, home accessories. giftware, jewellery, wooden toys, advent calendars, plants, chocolates, children's gifts, toys, gourmet foods, spices, festive treats, home-made jams and chutneys.
While parents shop, children are meeting Santa at his Grotto. But the main attraction is a live crib complete with a purposely built wooden stable at the school picnic area under a large carob tree.
With the support of local farmers, the stable also is housing live animals to transform the area into a typical nativity scene.
Children visiting the Christmas Market are encouraged to dress up in nativity costumes.
Activities for children include storytelling, letter writing to Santa, arts and crafts, baking and games.
The Stagecoach Christmas Choir and the cast of The Wizard of Oz – MADC’s Traditional Christmas Panto are also visiting the market, which is a San Anton School fundraising event.
