Fifteen years after launching services to Malta, Emirates Airlines said its commitment to the market remains as strong as ever.
Emirates has carried over 490,000 passengers to/from Malta since the island became its eight European destination and the 41st destination worldwide in 1998.
Emirates operates daily flights to Dubai with an option to stop in Larnaca, Cyprus. It serves the Malta–Cyprus–Dubai route with a Boeing 777-200.
Although long-haul destinations such as Australia, Mauritius, Maldives, Seychelles, China, Thailand and South Africa are increasingly appealing to travellers from Malta, flights to Dubai and Cyprus remain the top-selling destinations.
With the new official partnership announced in March 2013 between Emirates and Qantas, Maltese travellers can take advantage of an extensive Australian and international network, as well as frequent flyer benefits and lounges.
The two carriers offer the world’s largest joint fleet of Airbus A380s and passengers will be welcomed into Concourse A, the world’s first purpose-built A380 concourse, at Dubai International Airport.
In November 2012, Skywards, Emirates’ frequent flyer programme, inked a deal with Easyjet, Europe’s fourth largest airline, which allows for redemption of Skywards Miles for flights on Easyjet, which flies to over 30 countries across Europe and North Africa.
The start of 2013 brought about the launch of two new routes – Warsaw and Algiers . In addition the airline is also expanding to Haneda in Tokyo, Japan on June 3, and Clark in the Philippines on October 1.
Emirates employs 130 Maltese nationals, including 89 cabin crew and 11 flight deck crew who are mainly based in Dubai.
