The China Cultural Centre and Santa Luċija local council are organising the China Summer Film Festival 2013 at the Greek Theatre, Santa Luċija, from August 30 to September 1.
Three popular Chinese films, with English subtitles, will be screened during the event. Entrance is free and complimentary refreshments will be served after the screenings.
My Spectacular Theatre

Synopsis: Chen Yu is an unemployed college graduate who accidently breaks into a private theatre owned by an old man, Lao Gao. The theatre plays movies for the blind and Gao hires Yu to be his projectionist. Through the way of playing the movies for the blind, Yu begins to realise the valuable and tangible details in life that are usually neglected by normal people. But in the pursuit of love and better prospects, Yu has to leave the theatre and the job he has fallen in love with…

Synopsis: Bus driver Liao Chenxue is a middle-aged single woman who feels the pressure to get married and to fulfil her dream to see Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. She meets photographer Guan Yunshan on her bus by chance and he leaves her with an unpleasant first impression. Guan is unsuccessful both in his job as landscape photographer and in his personal life. But their common views and dreams lead Liao to fall in love with Guan. She eventually gives him her valuable and cherished stamp collection to help finance Guan’s National Geographic examination. So he leaves for his exam and Liao waits for his return.
Little Big Soldier

Synopsis: The story is set in the third century BC, when China is divided into many states. Warlords scramble for territories and great turmoil prevails. The armies of two states, Wei and Liang, fight relentlessly against each other. Only two men survive this bloodbath: a low-ranked, unnamed Liang soldier, and a young, brave Wei general. The unnamed Liang soldier wishes nothing more than to live in peace and till his own land, while the young ambitious Wei general attempts to unify China and become king. Which of them fulfils his dream?
