To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Malta’s best loved French sliced loaf wrapped in wax paper, Golden Harvest hosted a golden anniversary party at Villa Arrigo in San Pawl tat-Tarġa.

The anniversary reception was hosted by Golden Harvest’s chief executive officer Mark Aquilina together with the board of directors, including John Aquilina, Joseph Aquilina and Nicolette Aquilina de Noto.

The climax of the party was reached with the cutting of the anniversary cake by John Aquilina and Doris Fenech.

As part of the celebrations, Golden Harvest also launched a recipe cookbook competition for Facebook followers. There were five competitions with the 10 most voted recipes from every section of the book: sandwich fillers, appetisers, starters, main course and desserts.

“To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the French sliced loaf, we went back to our origins, giving prominence to the old imagery since we truly believe our future lies where our roots are,” Mr Aquilina explained.

Customers can obtain a copy of the cookbook, which will be published in December, by collecting 50 wrappers of French sliced loaf wrapped in wax paper.
