Five months after a magistrate ordered police to investigate former GRTU director-general Vince Farrugia for perjury, the probe is still ongoing.
The investigation centres on the testimony by Mr Farrugia and other witnesses in the criminal case against developer Sandro Chetcuti.
In September Mr Chetcuti was found guilty of having assaulted and slightly injured Mr Farrugia and received a one-month jail term, suspended for a year.
After originally accusing Mr Chetcuti of attempted murder, the police dropped the charge during the case when the credibility of testimony by key witnesses was compromised.
In its judgment the court noted Mr Farrugia tried to use his position to manipulate witnesses to testify the way he wanted and ensure Mr Chetcuti faced a trial by media.
The court ruled Mr Farrugia had “tried to twist the arm of justice”.
