The Nationalist Party managed to clinch a majority in Nadur by just a handful of votes – but for the Said family it was a double celebration as Edward Said became the third sibling to be elected mayor of the village.
Mr Said, 27, has followed in the footsteps of his brothers, Chris, the PN general secretary, and Charles, who have also served as mayors of the Gozitan village.
Speaking to The Sunday Times of Malta soon after his election on the first count, Edward Said, the youngest of the three, said he was looking forward to taking on his new responsibilities.
The election in Nadur was settled by just 30 votes.
