Entrepreneurs operating from Mrieħel industrial estate have joined forces with the government and set up a foundation tasked to embellish the area and turn it to a modern business park.
The deed of the Mrieħel Enterprise Foundation was signed this morning in Castille in the presence of the 18 founding members together with government officials.
Farsons Group chairman Louis Farrugia has been elected chairman for an 18-month term. The foundation will receive up to €400,000 from the state, which will be complemented by an equal amount from the members, as well as any planning authority fees related to development in this industrial zone.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, who presided the launch, welcomed this initiative based on a public private partnership.
Dr Muscat noted that improvements in this industrial estate would positively affect some 6,000 workers who earned their living from there. He said this foundation was testament to the pro-business approach being adopted by the government.
