Ira Losco will be singing a new song, Walk on Water, at the Eurovision Song Contest and not Chameleon - the song which secured the Malta contest, Eurovision Song Malta said.

Walk on Water was selected by an international and Maltese jury.

Juries in 13 European countries, comprising of music industry professionals, listened to 10 songs (nine new compositions and Chameleon), together with a panel of music experts from Malta.

Walk on Water was the overwhelming favourite to represent Malta in Stockholm.

The video for Losco’s new song was filmed last week at the Malta National Aquarium and across several locations in Gozo.

The song was officially submitted to the European Broadcast Union before last weekend’s deadline.

It is to be formally launched on Thursday.

During a visit to Malta and speaking to national broadcaster PBS, organisers of the event, EBU supervisor Jan Ola Sand confirmed that this year the festival is intentioned to provide a stage to the artist rather than the song.

But the decision is still expected to trigger off controversy, with many believing that the winning song should still be performed in Stockholm.
