A total of 163 couples were united through the civil union law in three years, according to Civil Liberties Minister Helena Dalli.
The number includes 22 same-sex couples who had initially been registered overseas while a baby was also adopted by a gay couple in the same period.
The civil unions law provides the same rights and obligations as a married couple.
The introduction of the law has led to a more inclusive and open society where people are not judged or emarginated, the minister told a news conference.
Dr Dalli spoke of the change in mentality in the country, especially towards LBTIQ individuals who now have the same rights and obligations.
