Motors Inc., the authorised dealer for Kia in Malta, has launched two if its most popular models – the all-new Rio and all-new Picanto.
All eyes fell on the Kia Picanto city car when it was revealed at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show. Now in its third generation, the Kia Picanto brings a new, more youthful and energetic character to the A-segment. Boasting an assertive new design and a high-quality, high-tech new cabin, the latest model also offers buyers greater potential for customisation and promises to be the most versatile car in its class.
On the other hand, Kia’s B-segment global challenger bestseller, the Rio, now in its fourth generation, has also been heavily enhanced with a fresh appearance inside and out, featuring a lengthy list of improvements.
The two models have a particularly strong fan base, ticking all the boxes for low running costs, ideal dimensions for city driving and the high level of equipment. While both the Rio and the Picanto retain the strengths they always enjoyed, their new versions offer a new level of dynamism and performance, as well as introduce the latest technologies for in-car connectivity and enhanced safety.
These elements ensure the strengthening of the Kia profile worldwide and the brand’s market share in these two very competitive segments.
The Picanto offers buyers greater potential for customisation than ever before, with a choice of 11 vibrant paint finishes designed to make the car stand out. The exterior is also complemented by new projection headlamps with LED indicators and LED daytime running lights.
Inside the new Picanto, Kia designers have created a more modern, refined cabin than the second-generation model, with new materials and layout adding a greater sense of quality for occupants. Customisation is key to the appeal of the new Picanto’s cabin. While black and grey cloth seats are available as standard, buyers can also personalise their new Picanto with one of five optional colour packs, featuring contrast artificial leather upholstery and stitching.

The Picanto meets the increasing trend towards five-door models in the A-segment, offering maximum practicality, the new model is no larger than the model it replaces, yet it offers more space in the cabin and class-leading boot capacity.
The outgoing Kia Picanto won plaudits for its combination of immediate handling responses and a comfortable ride. Engineers have emulated these characteristics in the new model, while making a series of modifications for a natural improvement in ride quality and stability on all roads.
The 1.0-litre MPI engine provides the entry point into the Picanto range. The most fuel efficient engine available to Picanto buyers, the 1.0-litre unit is capable of producing just 99 g/km of carbon dioxide.
The all-new Kia Rio’s progressive new exterior and interior design was led by Kia’s design centres in Germany and California. The appearance of the new Rio is defined by straight lines and smooth surfacing, giving the car a distinctive new look and more mature character than its predecessor.
The Rio offers one of the most spacious cabin in its class, together with a host of advanced technologies designed to for maximum comfort and convenience – including keyless entry and ignition, heated seats and steering wheel, rain-sensing windscreen wipers and automatic headlamps.
Another top highlight is Kia’s latest ‘floating’ HMI (human-machine interface) at the centre of the dashboard – with an advanced high-resolution 7” navigation touchscreen featuring Kia Connected Services powered by TomTom, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for full smartphone integration.
When developing the all-new Kia Rio, designers and engineers gave top priority to delivering incredible safety standards, and with 325 litres of cargo space and split-folding rear seats as standard, it is ready to accommodate even your biggest plans. The chassis has also been modified to ensure more agile and immediate handling, and improved ride comfort – for a more engaged and enjoyable driving experience.
The Rio starts at €13,600, while the Picanto starts at €9,500. Prices include government scrappage scheme. All Kia models come with a seven-year warranty.
