Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew is getting the MADC treatment at San Anton Gardens. Staged ‘in the round’ for the first time, the comedy tells the story of the courtship of Petruchio and the headstrong shew Katherina.

In this twist on the original tale, the plot is set in the fictional local town of Mazbugg, where their amateur dramatics club is staging the show – thus turning this into a play within a play.

This production also introduces the role of The Fool – a musician who guides the audience through the action, comments on it and leads the characters on a dance through the story.

Directed by Polly March, the cast stars Jonathan Dunn, Becky Camilleri, Laura Best, Alex Gatesy Lewis, Gianni Selvaggi, Jasmine Farrugia, Philip Leone-Ganado, Renato Dimech, Rambert Attard, Tina Rizzo, Erica Muscat, Franco Sciberras, Jonathan Orchard, Diandra Ann Mamo, Kurt Gabriel Meli, Tezara Camilleri, Jeremy Grech and Samuel Mallia.

Performances run until Sunday at San Anton Gardens in Attard at 8.30pm. The play is rated 10+. Tickets can be bought online at www.madc.com.mt or by sending an e-mail to bookings@madc. com.mt  or call 7777 6232.
