Mark Portelli has been appointed chief executive officer of Midi plc, succeeding Luke Coppini.

Mr Portelli has served as a board member of several companies and public entities. Between 2002 and 2013 he served as executive chairman of Malta Freeport Corporation, during which period he participated in the privatisation of the container terminal operations and the divestment of the corporation’s holding in Oiltanking Malta. Between 2007 and 2013 he also served as chairman of the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation, which was established by the government to oversee several major projects, including the City Gate project, built to the design of Renzo Piano. During the past two years, from June 2015 to June 2017, he served as a non-executive director of Midi plc as well as a member of its audit committee.

Mr Portelli is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a graduate from the University of Manchester.
