I refer to the letter by Patrick Farrugia (September 26) in which he records the evolution of the Dockyard Defence Battery (Royal Artillery) into, later, the Royal Malta Artillery (30th LAA Battery) and then theeventual absorption into the3rd Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment of the RMA (on April 28, 1941). The correspondent expressed the wish that the former members of that battery be suitably commemorated.

Our association would like to inform him that efforts are in hand for the construction in Fort St Elmo of a suitable monument to commemorate all those who served in this regiment as, in fact, being the last uniformed personnel who had occupied that historic fort as a military establishment.

This planned monument would, therefore, be also inclusive of all those who served at any time in the 3rd LAA Regiment RMA, the 11th HAA Regiment RMA, the 3/11 Regiment RMA (T) and all their constituent batteries all over history, inclusive, of course, of the Dockyard Defence Battery. We are urging early consideration by the relevant authorities but are hopeful of achieving our objective.
