The industrial action meant to come into force on Monday at Mater Dei and other hospitals, homes and health centres has been postponed, after the nurses' union was promised that the Cabinet would be looking into the matter.

The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses' council decided to postpone all its industrial directives for two days as the Government informed the Union that during next Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting, MUMN’s proposals are going to be discussed.
On Tuesday afternoon MUMN is going to be informed ofthe Cabinet’s decision, it said.
As a result of the directives, which were to come into effect at 7am on Monday and which would impact all hospitals, health centres and homes for the elderly in Malta and Gozo, nurses and midwives had been advised not to wash patients and not join in ward rounds and in the distribution of food, among other things.
They were also told t refuse to assist in the transfer of patients, except in the case of those requiring intensive care, and would not use computers or any similar devices.
