Sue Abela added another honour to her already glittering career when the veteran bowler won a bronze medal at the European Championships which were held in Vienna, Austria.

Competing in the women's singles competition, Abela made it through to step finals of the competition when amassing a total of 3.193.

During the Step Finals 1, Abela compiled scores of 229, 211, 234, 205, 228, 180, 211 and 257 ato finish with 4,948 points and make the top eight cut that proceeded to the Step Finals 2.

Here, Abela, stepped up her game when posting scores of 246, 225, 197 and 237 for a total of a combined score of 5,853 that clinched her third place in the standings.

The gold medal was won by Sweden's Filippa Persson who beat Nicole Sanders, of the Netherlands, 2-1 in the final.
