On September 7, the Times of Malta published a letter I had written about an important structure in Gozo having the most beautiful balcony showing Pinto’s half moon on both sides (and, thus, easily dateable). It was still in a good state.
Many Gozitans told me how right I was but no comments were publicly made. Not even one person wrote. A few weeks after my letter appeared, a sign saying ‘Danger’ was put up.
Now, the inevitable started to happen.
Part of this beautiful balcony has collapsed and the rest, together with the façade, will follow very soon. This building is located at the exit of Gozo General Hospital and next to a school.
Part of the balcony can still be saved and avoid serious repercussions if it were to collapse completely. But no one seems to care. No one.
I publicly renounce my membership of Wirt Għawdex.
