When Adam committed the sin (whatever it was), he tried to cover up when appearing before God. That was thousands, if not millions, of years ago.

It is still the same in this present day of wonders, inventions etc. You do something bad or improper, or downright scandalous, and the first thing you think of is a cover-up.
