A woman was rushed to hospital with grievous injuries early on Saturday after a terrible car crash in Burmarrad. 

Police said the 23-year-old driver appeared to have control of her vehicle, which clipped a pavement, destroyed a tree and crashed into a pole. 

The incident happened around 6am on Triq Għajn Rihana, Burmarrad.

Police and Civil Protection Department workers were called to the scene to assist the victim. She was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment. 

Police are investigating.
