Christa Formosa. Photo: FacebookChrista Formosa, the 23-year-old woman injured in a horrific car crash in Burmarrad on Saturday died in hospital, the police said.
After being treated on site, the victim had been rushed to hospital with grievous injuries.
She lost control of her vehicle, which clipped a pavement, destroyed a tree and crashed into a pole in Triq Għajn Rihana, Burmarrad.
Ms Formosa had participated in several beauty contests, including Miss World Malta and Miss Universe Malta. She was also a social worker.
Several tributes and messages of shock were posted on social media when the news of her death emerged.
