The Life Network Foundation Malta and Id-Dar tal-Providenza, in collaboration with the One of Us Federation and LeJeune Foundation, is holding a conference titled ‘Every Life Matters’ today at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana.
The foundation says that as prenatal tests proliferate, the medical and broader communities perceive that such testing is a logical extension of good prenatal care.
But prenatal tests are also criticised by the disability rights community, which contends that advances in science should be directed at improving their lives, not preventing or annihilating them.
The aim of this conference is to increase awareness on this issue and to engage in a debate on the true meaning of equality. Taking part will be a panel of experts in the field as well as individuals with disabilities and family members who willgive their personal testimonies.
Registration opens at 9am and the conference ends at 1pm with a speech by Mgr Charles Cordina, Episcopal Vicar for Diaconia.
