Policymakers should consider reducing the minimum size of apartments aimed at rental to foreign clients, the head of the Malta Developers’ Association real estate section said.
Speaking on Times Talk, Douglas Salt said that while the Maltese would not be interested in such small units, there would be demand from foreigners coming to work, especially those who are currently finding rentals rising higher than they can afford.
Admitting that rentals had reached a high, he also warned that companies would not come to Malta if they could not find commercial space for the right price.
Mr Salt also said that the regulation of the real estate agency sector, which had been dormant for a few years, is now being resuscitated and that he hoped it would materialise by the end of the year.
