A series of fun activities will be held next Monday at Għar Dalam to celebrate Natura 2000 Day. Għar Dalam is Malta’s oldest prehistoric site and forms part of the Natura 2000 network of protected sites.

During the event, being organised by Birdlife Malta and Heritage Malta, participants will be challenged to a scavenger hunt and try some finger painting to enjoy synergies between cultural and natural heritage.

During the educational scavenger hunt between 5.30 and 6.30pm, participants will be divided into groups and discover their inner enigmatologist to solve riddles and find clues spread around Għar Dalam. This will be followed by finger painting from 6.30 to 7.30pm during which participants will explore their artistic self after being inspired by the artefacts, pottery and animal remains found at Għar Dalam. Between 7.30 and 8.30pm there will be time to learn more about Natura 2000, Għar Dalam and Birdlife Malta, while socialising and enjoying snacks (the adults can enjoy some wine and cheese).

The Natura 2000 Day celebration takes place at Għar Dalam, Birżebbuġa, on Monday, May 21, from 5.30 to 8.30pm. Participation is open to children and adults who are young at heart. Prospective participants are asked to book places by Friday, May 18, through https://birdlifemalta.org/2018/05/lets-celebrate-natura-2000-day .
