A 19-year-old man from Żurrieq was grievously injured after smashing his car into an electricity pole outside Mdina.

The car, a BMW, ended up against a low wall.

Police said the accident took place at Triq l-Infetti outside Mdina on Sunday at 7pm. They said that the driver lost control of the car.

The teenager was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.
