A man who allegedly raped his partner and threatened his 11-year old daughter with a throat-slitting gesture, has been granted bail, one month after his arraignment.
During the arraignment of the 51-year old Egyptian, prosecuting Inspector John Spiteri had informed the court that the man’s partner had filed endless reports against him prior to the latest incident.
The man, who cannot be named by court order so as to protect his victims, stands accused of rape, illegal arrest, committing a non-consensual sexual act upon his partner, causing his partner and her children to fear violence, attacking his daughter and threatening his alleged victims. He pleaded not guilty.
He was originally denied bail in view of the fact that he had allegedly failed to abide by an earlier protection order.
However, one month since that arraignment, the court upheld a fresh request for bail handing down its decree against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €18,000.
