Valletta 2018 will come to an end on December 15, with a number of celebrations throughout the day.
The events, which will be scattered from City Gate to Strait Street, will include a “memory wall”, which will showcase artists creating paintings and other artworks on the spot, and live music.
The main event will kick off in St George’s Square at 6.30pm, Valletta 2018 chairman Jason Micallef said, adding it was surreal to see Valletta 2018 come to a close.
The event will include live music and a concert by Maltese popular music group Tribali.
The new museum of fine arts, MUŻA, a flagship project of Valletta 2018 which was marred by delays, will be open for free throughout the day.
“Luckily, this is only the beginning. We will have a structure called the Valletta Cultural Agency, which will continue working on the events of Valletta 2018,” parliamentary secretary for Valletta 2018 Deo Debattista said.
“It would be a shame that the know-how and experience gained during Valletta 2018 will be lost,” Dr Debattista said.

Culture has become part of the national agenda, Culture minister Owen Bonnici said, adding this year has radically changed the way people participate in events.
Authorities will continue to strive to increase participation, quality and jobs in the cultural sector, he added.
