A man was hospitalised after the horse he was riding died during training at the Marsa racetrack on Wednesday morning.

Police said that the incident occurred at 9am, but no details were available as to what could have caused the horse to die.

The man was a 59-year-old from Luqa.

Police said investigations are still under way.
