The talk forms part of a wider research project that Salafia is conducting on the names of all the valleys of the Maltese islands. To date he has information on almost 1,000 valleys.

During the talk he will focus on about 30 names of valleys close to Mosta and explain the origins and meanings behind each name. Some of the names are still in use while others have disappeared from collective memory of the people of Mosta and the Maltese.

Salafia is a professional interpreter in Spanish, English and Maltese, with Italian as a passive language, as well as a licensed guide. His main interests and hobbies are travelling, trekking and Maltese history and culture, with a special reference to the medieval period and place names. The talk is organised by L-Għaqda Filantropika Talent Mosti and l-Għaqda tal-Folklor.

The talk in Maltese will take place on Friday May 3 at 7pm at Razzett tal-Markiż Mallia Tabone, Wied il-Għasel Street, Mosta, next door to Maria Regina College secondary school.
