DEMANUELE. On April 28, at Mater Dei Hospital, after a long illness, Dr ALFRED DEMANUELE (Fredu) of Marsascala, aged 87, passed away. Predeceased by his sister Jini of New Brunswick and his elder brother Giuseppe of Cospicua (Bormla). Fredu, is survived by his daughter Kathy Selecky of Toronto, granddaughter Carrie Selecky of New Orleans, his brother Maurice and wife Mary, their daughter Marisa and her family of Brampton, his brother Frank with children Tony and Norbert, of California, his brother Vincent and wife Twanny, with their children Joanne, Teresa and Chris, of California, a respected number of nieces and nephews, as well as his many friends and carers, particularly Sandra McMonagle and Wally Gaffarena. Friends also include a loyal and special group of “dedicated poker players”. One faithful and committed chess player, Joe Gatz came out and did much more than just play chess. Finally, where would Fred be without his good friend Tommy Wright? A funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be held tomorrow, Thursday, May 3, at 2pm at Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception parish church, Cospicua, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. In addition, a reception at Il-Fanal will commence at 4pm for family and friends to share food, memories and celebrate the life of Fredu. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, in lieu of flowers, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

EAR. On April 30, at Casa Arkati, Mosta, AMY, aged 93, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss, her daughters Lorraine and Tania, their respective husbands Mario and Gino, her son Harry, her granddaughter Leeann, her husband Chris and her great-grandchildren Jake and Nicholai, her sister Josephine, in-laws, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Casa Arkati tomorrow, Thursday, May 3 at 8.15am for St Mary’s parish church, Mosta, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am, followed by interment at Mosta Cemetery. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family would like to thank all members of the Staff at Casa Arkati, Mosta.

GATT. On May 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, LINO, of Naxxar, aged 80, passed away peacefully following a long illness. Lino is survived by his loving wife Mary, his son David and his wife Glorianne, his grandchildren Maria, David and Gabriel and the wife of his late son Antonia, relatives and many friends. A funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said tomorrow, Thursday, May 3, at 3pm at Our Lady of the Victory parish church, Naxxar, followed by interment in the family grave at the Żebbuġ Cemetery. Donations to the Hospice Move-ment, in lieu of flowers, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank the doctors, nursing staff and carers at Haematology Ward, Oncology Day Centre and ITU at Mater Dei Hospital for the dedication shown towards Lino during his stays in hospital.

MICALLEF. On April 29, YVONNE, née Baluci, of Attard, aged 90, went to meet the Risen Lord. She is survived by her children Leo and his wife Ines, Peter and his wife Patricia, Catherine and her husband Joe, Natalie and her husband Jean-Pierre, her sons-in-law Lino, widower of Lilian, Mario, widower of Miriam, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her brother Louis and his wife Doris, her brother Gużi and his wife Mary, other relatives and friends. A funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be held on Friday, May 4 at 2pm at Santa Maria parish church, Attard, followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, in lieu of flowers, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SAMMUT. On April 30, at Mater Dei Hospital, M’ANNE, of Paola, aged 87, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her brothers Joe and his wife Joyce and Anthony and his wife Wilhelmina, her sisters Ċettina, Pauline, Rose and her husband Emanuel Buhagiar, and Lucia and her husband Alfred J. Chetcuti, as well as her nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today, Wednesday, May 2, for Christ the King parish church, Paola, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to St Catherine’s Monastery, Republic Street, Valletta, will be appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family would like to thank the doctors, nursing staff and carers at Mater Dei Hospital for the dedication shown towards M’Anne during her stay at the hospital.

ZAMMIT. On May 1, at Mater Dei Hospital, EMMANUEL, of Swieqi, aged 81, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his sister Juliana and her husband Max Ruffert, his sisters-in-law Beatrix, wife of his late brother Louis, and Charlotte, wife of his late brother Edward, nephews and nieces in Malta, Germany and the United States, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Tuesday, May 8, at 2.30pm for the Santa Maria Addolorata chapel where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 3pm followed by interment in the family grave. No flowers by request but donations to the Millenium Chapel will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest. The family would like to thank the staff at Casa Leone and Mater Dei M3 ward.
