FSADNI. On November 10, at St Paul’s Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, Ħamrun, ALFRED, of Paola, aged 83, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Ivan and his wife Rita, Marika, Helga and her husband Julian Consiglio, his grandchildren Maria, Emma, James and Mark, his brothers, Fr Michael, OP, and Albert, other relatives and friends. The funeral Mass præsente cadavere will be said today at 2 p.m. at the chapel of St Paul’s Home. PACE. On November 11, at Casa Leone, St Julians, JOSEPHINE, of Birkirkara, aged 91. She leaves to mourn her loss her children Carmen, widow of Lorry Sant, Rose Marie and her husband Joseph Grech, Marion, Joseph and his wife Joanna, grandchildren, relatives and friends. SPITERI MAEMPEL. On November 11, at Mater Dei Hospital, SUSAN, aged 96, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her nephews and nieces, Gerard and his wife Karin, Mario and his wife Anna, Johanna, Marie Therese and her husband Anthony De Marco, Nicola and her husband Marcus Pace, Victoria and her husband John Farrugia and their respective children, her in-laws Connie, widow of her brother John and Evelyn, widow of her brother Josie, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 1.15 p.m. for St George’s parish church, Qormi, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery, Paola. VELLA. On November 11, at Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital, ĠILARDU, of Sliema, aged 83, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Lilian, his children Joseph and his wife Maryanne, Jesmond and Tanita, Carmen and her husband George Bugeja, Nadia and her husband Jeffrey Aquilina and Simone, his grandchildren, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Karin Grech Rehabilitation Hospital today at 9 a.m. for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9.30 a.m., followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Research problems

The Physics Department at the University of Malta will be holding a symposium showcasing research problems on November 23 at 12 p.m. in Lecture Theatre 2, the University. Why believe?

John Cottingham, professor Emeritus of philosophy at the University of Reading, will give a lecture on Why Believe? at the Gateway Building Hall E, University on November 23 at 7.15 p.m. The event is organised by the Department of Philosophy and the Faculty of Theology of the University of Malta.

Mqabba activity

As part of the celebrations marking the first centenary of Our Lady of Lilies Musical Society of Mqabba, an activity paying homage to deceased society members will be held on November 20 at 11 a.m. at the locality’s cemetery.

Annual fun run
