Laetitia Badaut Haussmann is the next Blitz artist in residence whose work will be co-created during a five-day workshop with local participants, on till Sunday, and then on exhibition for two days on November 2 and 3.
The artist was born in Paris and is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Art de Paris-Cergy. She currently lives and works in Paris and abroad and her research is based on modern design, its representation and its failures. She sees her work as a kind of programme, where process is treated as inquiry – including the story of its own making – and approached as a critical laboratory.
For this residency, Badaut Haussmann is proposing a site-specific project for the Blitz building in Valletta, titled ‘Anna’s Weekend’. The project will take the form of an extended workshop, working with a group of local participants to develop furniture for the space; furniture that is both hybrid and multifunctional.
The Blitz Residency Programme is supported by the Valletta 2018 Foundation. Blitz is supported by the Arts Council Malta through a cultural partnership agreement. The artist’s residency is also supported by the French embassy in Malta.
The workshop, which kicked off yesterday, is being held at Blitz, 68, Santa Luċija Street, Valletta until Sunday. The exhibition is being held on November 2 and 3 with viewing times from 11am to 6pm.
