Investment management firm Curmi & Partners has appointed Joseph F.X. Zahra to its board of directors.
Mr Zahra brings a wealth of experience gained over many years of leading organisations in the private and government sectors in both an executive and non-executive capacity. He is a former director of the Central Bank of Malta and former member of its Monetary Policy Committee, former chairman of Bank of Valletta plc, Maltacom plc and Middlesea Insurance plc.
In July 2013, Pope Francis appointed Mr Zahra president of the Commission for the reforms of the Holy See’s economic and administrative structures, and he now holds the position of vice coordinator of the Council for the Economy of the Vatican. He sits on several boards of directors of both private and listed companies operating in financial services, oil services, transportation, retailing and accommodation.
Managing director David Curmi said: “This is the first time since the company was founded by my father in 1978 that a non-executive member has been appointed to our board. We are extremely pleased to have Mr Zahra join us. His wealth of experience and knowledge will, without doubt, be a great asset to our company and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship together. The company is currently charting its vision for the future, looking beyond the family structure to expand our position in the marketplace.”
