I have always thought that cyclists should by law take some sort of road test and questionnaire on road sense and safety.

Besides wearing helmets, they should also have basic insurance and be registered for the road, use a bell to indicate their presence, wear high-visibility clothing and always have lights front and back by law. It is about time authorities took some control and enforced proposed rules like this.

Motorists are not always to blame. Cyclists should give motorists a chance to see them on their bike. And motorists should give cyclists a wide berth.
