Stephen Sondheim’s famous musical is being produced for the first time by the UK National Theatre and will be screened live tomorrow at St James Cavalier, Valletta.

The story is set in New York in 1971, just a day before the iconic Weismann Theatre is to be demolished.

Thirty years after their final performance, a group of showgirls gather there to have a few drinks, sing a few songs and reminisce about the good old days. The musical includes such classic songs as Broadway Baby, I’m Still Here and Losing My Mind.

Featuring a cast of 37 and an orchestra of 21, the musical is directed by Dominic Cooke (The Comedy of Errors).

The UK National Theatre’s production of Follies will be screened live at St James Cavalier Cinema, Valletta, tomorrow at 8pm with encore screenings on December 2 and 10. For tickets, visit www.kreattivita.org.
