A celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of graduation from the University was held recently at the Valletta Campus, St Paul Street.

Celebrations began with Mass celebrated at the University church by Archbishop Paul Cremona, attended by chancellor David Attard and rector Juanito Camilleri.

Commemorative scrolls were presented to the graduates and a Vin d’Honneur was held afterwards at the Valletta campus.

The golden graduates present, some of whom visited from abroad especially for the occasion, were mainly lawyers, architects, doctors and dentists.

Most of the graduates were male but notably in the group were (from left in photo) one of the few female medical doctors at that time, Maria Sciberras, the first female dentist, Carmen Joslin née Attard, and the first female architect, Isabelle Barratt-Delia.
