Hard Rock Heals Foundation, through Hard Rock Cafe Malta’s application, has awarded a $5,000 donation to Dr Klown, to be used for the benefit of young children in hospitals. The sum was presented to Dr Klown president Maurice Sleypen by Shandelle Azzopardi, director of operations for Hard Rock Cafe Malta, during an event at the Hard Rock in Bay Street, St Julian’s.

“It is our pleasure to help organisations such as Dr Klown. A word of thanks goes to our staff who helped in the collection of the funds,” Ms Azzopardi said.

Dr Klown is an organisation of volunteers, who visit children’s wards in hospitals in Malta. Children may be of all ages and may be staying for short or long durations, depending on the severity of their illness.

The money will serve to buy new music instruments, as well as to provide professional training in the use of such instruments for interaction with ill children in hospital, to alienate them from their troubles.

The Hard Rock Heals Foundation funds locally driven music programmes around the world. In 2016 the foundation gifted $1.3 million to charitable causes around the world, including more than 30 grants to community-driven music programmes in Hard Rock Cafes across the globe.
