Vassallo Group chairman Nazzareno Vassallo, Care Malta CEO Natalie Briffa Farrugia, as well as other senior managers from the group and Care Malta were special guests at an Onam celebration organised by employees of the company from the Indian state of Kerala.
Indian employees from this region make up the second largest group of foreign employees within Care Malta and Vassallo Group.
Onam is the harvest festival in Kerala celebrated with much fanfare by Keralites across the world. It is celebrated to mark the homecoming of mythological king Mahabali, believed to be the greatest king ever in Kerala and who sacrificed his life for the well-being of his people. It is meant to create an atmosphere of brotherhood as people of all religions, castes and communities celebrate the festival with equal joy and verve.
Care Malta employees from this part of India managed to replicate the kind of atmosphere that is normally associated with this festival: intricate flower carpets, elaborate banquet dinner, the pulikali and kaikottikali dance and the reading of poems, which all play part in the festival.
The Prime Minister’s wife Michelle Muscat was present during the occasion and addressed those present.
