The 35-year-old heir to the Prussian throne, Georg Fried-rich Ferdinand, will tie the knot today with Sophie Princess of Isenburg in a wedding that will be broadcast live by local public television.
The prince, whose great-great- grandfather was Wilhelm II, the last emperor and king of Prussia who was deposed and went into exile after Germany’s defeat in World War I, will marry at the once royal Sanssouci palace, on the outskirts of Berlin.
His Imperial and Royal Highness, who just went by the name of Preussen (Prussia) when he did his military service in the Alpine troops, studied business management and currently works for a firm which specialises in helping universities bring their innovations to market.
He earlier studied at grammar schools in Germany, and at Glenalmond College, in Scotland.
His bride, the 33-year-old princess, was born in Frankfurt, western Germany, and currently works for a consulting agency that provides advice to foundations.
The wedding, to be attended by some 650 guests, will coincide with the 950th anniversary of the foundation of the House of Hohenzollern.
The couple celebrated their civil wedding on Thursday.
