What do you think of hunting as a hobby?

As long as it is enjoyed responsibly within the law, I don’t see any problem with it. Thomas Vernon, 23, Bachelor of Commerce.

I think hunting as a hobby is acceptable as long as hunters stick to the rules set for them. Elaine Gambin, 21, Bachelor of Education, Primary.

I don’t agree with hunting as a hobby. I don’t see its point. Certain hunters see birds as beautiful creatures and then shoot them. I see it as absolutely pointless. Matthew Vella, 18, Doctor of Medicine.

Is current legislation and enforcement effective?

I believe we have suffucient EU and local regulations, as long as they are enforced. Thomas Vernon

Clearly not, as we saw recently [with the flock of eagles]. Unfortunately, people still seem to be doing whatever they want. Elaine Gambin

I do not think current legislation is effective because although new rules seem to be implemented with every new electoral programme, nearly every day, on newspapers, social networking sites or television, we hear about some rare species being shot down. So no, I do not think that enforcement is effective enough. Matthew Vella

Would you be in favour or against banning spring hunting if a referendum came around?

I am in favour of banning illegal hunting, while also maintaining that which is ecologically possible to keep the hobby and the sport alive. Thomas Vernon

If it means that protected birds won’t be hunted anymore, then yes, I would vote against spring hunting. Elaine Gambin

If it came to a referendum I would vote in favour of spring hunting being banned. Matthew Vella
