The Lord Mayor of London, Alderman Andrew Parmley, has made his debut as organ soloist with the London Symphony Orchestra, performing Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony on the Grand Organ of St Paul’s Cathedral. The Lord Mayor, alongside Carmine Lauri, the orchestra’s co-leader who led the concert, together with conductor Fabio Luisi, were escorted from the cathedral’s Great West Door by the company of Pikemen and Musketeer down the length of the nave to the stage under the magnificent dome of St Paul’s where the London Symphony Orchestra waited, ready to begin the performance.

The concert was in aid of the Lord Mayor’s appeal: https://www.thelordmayorsappeal.org/. The funds raised from the appeal will support LSO Discovery, the London Symphony Orchestra’s pioneering music education and community programme, St Paul’s Music Outreach and the charity Music in Hospitals, enabling them to continue their valuable work.
