A lecture on ‘Consular uniforms of the Gollcher family’ will be delivered today at 6.30pm at the Palazzo Falson Historic House Museum in Mdina.

Christopher Grech will give a brief introduction to the history of court dress.

This will be followed by an account of his investigations into the consular uniforms depicted in the portraits of Olof Frederick and Gustav Gollcher, as well as the surviving Gollcher consular uniforms.

Mr Grech is a UK-registered architect who has practised with some of the UK’s leading architectural practices. Over the last 20 years, he has taught architecture in the US. He recently returned to Malta, where he will be teaching, researching and writing on subjects ranging from architecture to art, history and culture in 19th-century Malta.

The lecture is free and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. No pre-booking is required.
