Malta Enterprise has won an international award for its efforts to attract foreign investment to the island and assist established companies to develop and expand their operations.
The government agency received the Investment Promotion Award at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), which honours the world’s best practices in investment promotion. Mexico was awarded second place and China placed third. The award was presented to Malta Enterprise chairman Alan Camilleri at the grand opening of the World Investment Forum 2012 in Doha, Qatar, where he is also leading a business delegation.
The Investment Promotion Awards are presented to the world’s best agencies in promoting investment for job creation and skills development.
Mr Camilleri said: “Malta should be very happy and honoured to receive this important recognition, especially when one considers the extremely difficult operating environment in which it has been achieved.”
