Teatru Manoel Youth Theatre (TMYT) this weekend returns with a new production entitled Rubbish for one performance only on Sunday at 6pm.

Rubbish is another imaginative and thought-provoking theatrical production completely devised by the performers in which they combine their exciting variety of skills and talents to tackle the lives of people who are classed as ‘rubbish’ by society.

The actors tell the individual stories of displaced people ranging from runaways to refugees through storytelling, puppetry, physical theatre and song in a production that promises to be moving, funny, significantly relevant and, above all, educational and entertaining.

This is what Gillian Gourlay from the National Theatre of Scotland had to say about the group when they performed their previous production of Club at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games: “The power and strength of performance by members of TMYT is equal to that of any professional company I have seen. This is a young company of truly talented performers. Go see them while you can as they are definitely stars in the making”.

TMYT is directed by Denise Mulholland and forms part of the Manoel Theatre’s education programme Toi Toi which is conceived and managed by Rosetta Debattista.

The play is for anyone aged 8+ and tickets are €10 for adults and €7 per child.

Another performance for school parties is being held on Monday at 9.30am (€4 per child).

• Tickets may be obtained by phone on 2124 6389, online at www.teatrumanoel.com.mt or by sending an e-mail to bookings@teatrumanoel.com.mt.
