Three students who graduated from the Malta College of Art Science and Technology’s Institute of Community Services – Suzanne Attard, Juliet Borg and Jenna Milligan – were recently presented with the City and Guilds medal for excellence at a presentation ceremony at the college’s main campus in Paola.
The award recognises learners and lecturers who achieve the best results or who go above and beyond what is expected of them and show a true journey of progression.
The students completed the Mcast diploma in hairdressing course (leading to the City and Guilds level 2 IVQ diploma in hairdressing) during the 2010/2011 academic year.
The three former students’ achievement makes Mcast the educational institution with the highest number of medal winners in Europe in 2012. Since 2004, 25 students from the college’s 10 institutes have received the City and Guilds medal for excellence.
Katya De Giovanni, director of the institute, also received a certificate recognising this notable international achievement of the institute’s students and staff.
Through a network of 8,500 approved centres in 80 countries, over two million learners register with City and Guilds to work towards one of its qualifications every year.
Of these students only 200 receive the medal for excellence.
