Despite not seeming all too eager to push his profile to the fore, young singer-songwriter Dario Genovese seems to constantly be making music and performing, if not with his band Skycity, then under the alias of The Busker.
Following the positive reception his debut self-titled EP received when it was released late last year, Genovese is back with a brand new release.
“It’s been a very busy and significant year for me,” he answered when asked how he copes. “After the debut EP was launched, I played two gigs at the prison, and earlier this month I also opened for Tribali at the Earth Garden Festival.” The Busker, along with a full band in tow, will be performing live at Coach and Horses in Msida on Friday, in conjunction with the release of second EP Greenwich Village. The EP contains six new songs, all of which are acoustic-based with percussive accompaniment by Jean Paul Borg.
“One of the songs is a duet, which I recorded with Rebecca Mifsud earlier this year,” said Genovese. Backing The Busker on the night will be Desmond Tanti (piano), Jean Paul Borg (drums, percussion), Samwel Mallia (bass) and the artist’s father Mario Genovese on electric guitar.
Entrance is €2 (€5 including the EP). Doors open at 9.30pm. For more information, look up The Busker EP Launch event page on Facebook.
