The House National Audit Office Committee has approved the decision to devolve land in Pembroke to China for the building of an embassy, Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Louis said in Parliament yesterday.

The issue had been pending since last November when the Opposition asked the embassy to present an outline plan of the proposed building.

The Chinese Embassy had committed in writing to following all relevant laws and procedures.

However, it was unable to submit any plans since these would only be drawn up once the land was purchased.
