Martin McNeil will be playing a one-night-only acoustic gig in Malta, after having spent much of last year gigging and writing songs around Europe and the US. Malta has been McNeil’s home for the past few years, where the British singer-songwriter has established quite a foothold on the music scene here.

The American experience was very enlightening, bringing McNeil in contact with some incredible musicians, many of whom were involved in the recording of his new album.

“Mark McRae and I recorded it in Woodstock, the home of The Band,” McNeil said. “I was working with some amazing people, such as drummers Jerry Marotta and Brad Pemberton, Jon Graboff, who plays the pedal steel guitar and pianist Malcolm Burn.”

Clearly very happy with the outcome, McNeil says the album is now in the post-production stage, with the overdubs being done in Berlin.

There’s also a video release in the planning.

Martin McNeil will be performing on Friday at Django, Valletta.
