Kempinski Hotel San Lawrenz, Gozo, recently inaugurated a new section, Oriental Hammam, to its existing spa.
Oriental Hammam, designed by Carlo Schembri, enhances the multicultural assortment of treatments at the spa, making it the largest area of authen-tic facilities in the Mediterranean.
Dorothy Baldacchino of Baldacchino Group, owners of the San Lawrenz resort, spoke about the fulfilment of her late father Joe Baldacchino’s dream to have the best spa in Malta. It involved trips to Turkey, where the marble for the hammam was acquired, and to Morocco from where exotic scents and magic colours were brought over.
The treatments at the spa include traditional and newly composed therapies, beautification to alternative medicine packages and an exclusive signature treatment – the Arabian Body Fragrance Ritual.
This experience combines the classical hammam with the Arabian body fragrance massage that includes a relaxing perfumed foot bath and warm compresses. The oil can be chosen from a wide range of oriental perfumed oils.
The hotel was recently voted, for the fifth time in row, Malta’s and the Mediterranean’s Leading Spa Resort at the World Travel Awards at the new Conrad Algarve Hotel in Almancil, Portugal, earlier this month.
