The parish church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, Xagħra celebrated Palm Sunday commemorating the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. Archpriest Carmelo Refalo carried the Crucifix in procession, accompanied by parishioners, including children holding olive branches and palm fronds, which were blessed before the procession. The blessing ceremony also included readings from the Holy Scripture. After the procession, Mgr Refalo led a concelebrated Mass animated by the Voci Angeliche choir and John Cassar & Band. Xagħra was one of the very few parishes that managed to hold the procession due to bad weather. In fact, the Cathedral and Qala Good Friday processions were cancelled. The Passion presentation by the Għajnsielem Dramatic Company at Fort Chambray was also cancelled.
